Caring Community Project

Since the year 2000, suicide rates in Louisiana has risen by 29% for both males and females.  In an effort to raise awareness about suicide and to offer hope and support from our community, Florida Parishes Human Services Authority (FPHSA) is coordinating this community response.  Our goal is to decrease suicide in our region to zero, since not one suicide is acceptable.  You can help by creating Caring Cards.  Please design and decorate the FRONT ONLY of the cards with caring messages (“There is hope”; “We care”; “You matter”, etc) and/or caring images (hearts, emojis, serene scenes, etc).  You may use any materials for the design: gel pens, markers, paint, collage, colored pencils, etc.  These cards will be sent to persons who may need that extra support to get through tough times. Clinical staff will write personal notes to these individuals to engage them in therapy.  You and/or your agency/group may identify yourself on the back of the card to show your support of this project.  Cards may be requested or returned to any FPHSA location or they can be picked up/delivered by notifying us by emailing admin@fphsa.org.  We can also be reached at (985)543-4333.  Thank you for supporting your community!
